Mental Health Congress 2022

The LPS Mental Health Congress 2022 took place over 2 days bringing together more than 150 attendees from various professional backgrounds. The opening ceremony was attended by LOP President Prof Joseph Bakhach who emphasized the importance of psychiatry as a medical specialty in these challenging times for the country.  Dr Michele Cherro was presented with the John Fayyad Research Award for a review article published recently. The sessions on Friday and Saturday covered several topics relevant and informed by the Lebanese  experience of trauma, stress and crisis over the past 3 years. Local research was presented along with the interventions by the clinical and non-clinical sector. A special session was held in collaboration with the newly formed order of Psychologists and its president Dr Leila Dirani. Non governmental organizations were invited to present and exhibit on their contribution to the health and wellbeing of the nation. Finally actor and director Georges Khabbaz shared a message of hope highlighting the interplay between psychology and the performing arts.
